Anwar Sadat, a cadet in the Military Academy (1936) | 1- | Born on the 25th of December (Christmas Day 1918, in Mit Abu elkom- | | Mounofia Province - Delta Egypt. | | 2- | Attended elementary school, and the Coptic school around his village. | | 3- | Attended Fouad secondary school in Abbasia, Cairo and graduated in | | 1936. |

Marriage photo of Anwar and Gihan Sadat | 4- | Joined for a brief period the Faculty of Art, law and Commerce. | | 5- | Joined the Egyptian military Academy in 1937 and graduated in 1938 | | from the communication (signal) school. | | 6- | Officer in the Egyptian army until 1942, when he was imprisoned for | | attempted collaboration with the German army. |

(1970-1981) 1) Economic: Infitah -- Open door policy -- the conversion of the Egyptian
economy from a state-run bureaucracy to a free enterprise system.
2) Social: An end to state-run surveillance of individuals.
3) Political: Turning Egypt's political affiliation from the Soviet Union to the
Western countries. The steps included:
i) The Expulsion of 17,000 Soviet defense experts in 1972.
ii) The renewed friendship of the USA & return of diplomatic relations
between the two countries.
4) The successful October 6, 1973 war with Israel.
5) Trip to Jerusalem - November 19, 1977.
