Psammetik, a High Official Dimensions: The goddess Isis was represented in human form and appears here as a young woman seated on a throne. She wears the crown characteristic of Hathor with whom she is often associated. As queen, and wife of Osiris the mythical first sovereign of Egypt, she wears the frontal uraeus. She holds an "ankh", the symbol of life, in her hand. Around the base is an inscription of invocation for offering addressed to Isis by the Chief Scribe Psammetik who dedicated the statue to her. |
