Statue of the Father of the Vizier Ankhu

Excavation: G. Legrain's Excavations of 1904
Period: End of 12th or Early 13th Dynast (18th Century BC)

 

 

This statue is composed in the classic Middle Kingdom tradition, with the stately figure sitting on a chair with a low back and resting his feet on a projected base. He has both hands placed on the knees, the left flat and palm down, while the right is closed and placed horizontally, holding a piece of cloth. Note that the wig has no parting
