Statue of teh Vizier Hor

JE 37512 Cairo Antiquities Museum

Material: Basalt
Size: Height 96 cm
Location: Courtyard of the Cachette at Karnak
Excavation: G Legrain's Excavations of 1904
Period: 22nd Dynasty (945-712 BC)

This statue of the Vizier Hor, with his let leg folded to the chest while his right rests on the ground is rather unusual. The form appears sporadically in the Old Kingdom and was sometimes revived during the New Kingdom. However, the style is also documented in various statues after the New Kingdom.
