Description: Ornamental leg from either a bed or chair, carved in the form of a sphinx. The eyes were originally inlaid and the decorative details were filled with a white pigment. The iconography suggests that the piece is of Nubian workmanship. Wood (probably ebony), 7th to 4th centuries B.C.
