Title:

Temple of Edfu

Description:

The temple of Edfu, dedicated to the god Horus, is the largest temple in Egypt after that of Karnak; it is also the best preserved. The building, as it stands today, constructed on top of the remains of another, older temple, was begun in 237 B.C. during the reign of Ptolemy III Euergetes I, and was completed in 57 B.C., during the reign of Ptolemy XII Neos Dionysos.
