Planets Above Bib Alex

Photographer:

Aymen Ibrahem
Title:
Planets Above Bib Alex
Description:

Aymen is pleased and honored to share his photo with fellow TourEgypt.net readers:

This striking photo shows a wonderful planetary alignment (of the planets Mercury, Venus and Saturn ), that was visible in Alexandria in late June! The statue in the foreground is of Prometheus, located in the Plaza of Bib Alex. Mercury and Venus are visible to the right of the statue. Venus is the brighter object. Saturn is the star close to the torch of Prometheus.
The planet Mercury is usually difficult to observe due to its proximity to the Sun! It is even said that the revolutionary scientist Nicolas Copernicus regretted on his death bed that he has never observed the planet Mercury!
