Catafalque Cover of Asetemakhbyt
Material: Painted Leather
Discovered in the famous Deir el-Bahri Cache, this was the drapery that covered the catafalque below which the coffin of Asetemakhbyt was placed during the funeral ceremony. It use is documented in tomb paintings and wooden models depicting funeral processions, in which the coffin is surmounted by a light wooden superstructure covered with a cloth while it is being transported to the tomb.
