Hieratic - The Cursive Hieroglyph

This document is written in Hieratic script. We think that hieratic writing developed because, like cursive, it could be written faster than hieroglyphs.

This piece is a "tomb robbery" record -- it lists the items that were stolen from a royal burial from the Karnak Temple by the Chief Doorkeeper, Djehuty-hotep . Apparently the riches kept in temples and tombs weren't even safe from the officials assigned to guard them!
