Plants and animals from the Nile Valley and the desert are found on many
of the objects that the ancient Egyptians used everyday. Sometimes these
designs were just decorative, sometimes they had religious meaning. Here

The lotus flower is a water
lily which grows along the Nile. It opens at dawn, displays its blossom
during the day, and closes at dusk. For the ancient Egyptians the lotus
may have been a symbol of creation, renewal, and the constant rising and
setting of the sun. |
