Steigenberger Golf Resort

By Jimmy Dunn

Egypt means summer all year round, and this is no more true anywhere then El Gouna.  One of the most exclusive destinations on the Red Sea is El Gouna, a resort which has grown from a little fishing harbour to a holiday place of busy boutiques and restaurants.  El Gouna is built on a group of islands surrounded by turquoise lagoon waters, with something for everyone, including fantastic beaches and for divers, the world's most beautiful, crystal clear waters.

El Gouna's development has been carefully planned to safeguard its natural beauty while catering to every practical need.  It has been called Egypt's "most eco-friendly destination.

Designed by well kown American architect, Michael Graves, the Steigenberger has been called "the most exclusive hotel" in a region that caters to exclusive hotels.  It has its won lagoon beach and is situated to overlook this lagoon. The architecture is a mix of modern and Nubian, and has 148 rooms, 24 suites and 30 apartments.

The air-conditioned double-rooms are comfortably furnished and include private baths, satellite TV, hairdryers, minibar, safe and balconies or terraces.  The suites have a living area as well.  All rooms are large, affording easy relaxation and enjoyment.  Non-smoking rooms are also available.

Of course, there is the 18 hole USPGA championship level golf course nearby, but many other forms of entertainment awaite the Steigenberger's clientel, including great diving, swimming either in the lagoon, or the heated swimming pool (there are two seperate children's pools), as well as a complete fitness center with steam bath, massage and sauna.

There are two restaurants, including the Fairways Restaurant for international specialties, and Rotisserie which offers a la carte selection. In addition, there are two additional bars (the Lobby Bar and the Par 19 Bar), as well as a pool/snack bar. Of course, there are also many other facilities for night life and dinning in El Gouna itself. In addition, the Steigenberger also has superior business and meeting facilities available.

The Steigenberger is certainly one of the best of the best five star hotels in Egypt, and anyone who is seeking a luxurious, relaxing and entertaining vacation would do well to consider a stay here.
