Ivory Lion

This Unguent jar embodies the deity Bes, associated with pleasures and usually represented as a bandy-legged dwarf with ears, mane, and tail of a lion and sometimes wearing a lion's skin. This vase was likely carved with a floral crown because of the connection with Bes.
