Temple of Cheops in Your Own Home
August 21, 2011 - You can now visit the great Temple of Khufu from the comfort of your own home with a new 3D interactive movie.
The movie was debuted at a 3D theater in Paris and is now available on your home computer. All you need to do is download the plug-in and put on the stylish 3D glasses. The simulation not only lets you inside the great Pyramid of Cheops but allows you to pause the narration to "look around" this wonder of the ancient world.
One fascinating aspect of this film is an explanation of a theory of how the pyramid was built. There are theories that the Ancient Egyptians used stone ramps from the exterior but the theory described in this film suggests that the ramps were actually inside the pyramid. Infrared imagery and Djedi, a robot that has been exploring the pyramid for the past two years, are two tools being used to try to uncover the mysteries of the pyramid.
