Fischer's Peace Concert Performed in Front of the Sphinx

Fischer's Peace Concert conducted by composer Gotthilf Fischer performed at the Giza plateau on June 9, 1997.

The 200 singers participated in the concert, amongst whom were renowned soloists such as Isi Oren (Soprano), Gisela Gensberg (Soprano) and Alexander Stachowiak (Tenor). The first part was performed by solo and chorus featuring pieces as follows: Dank by G. Handel, Jubilate by A. Bornianski, Amazing Grace by Volkweise, Das Glocklein by Volkweise.

The second part included United (Europa) Frieden by G. Fisher, Toreromarsch by G. Bizet, Preludio and Trinklied by G. Verdi, Chor mit Triumphmarsch by G. Verdi, Vater Unser by G. Fisher, Lieuder Freude by L.V. Beethoven.

Commenting on that concert, Egyptian Minister Dr. Mamdouh El-Beltagui said "there is no room for tourism in the absence of peace as tourism strengthens the means of human reunion deepens the bonds and ties of cultural exchanges and hold together nations and people in all parts of the globe."
