October 29, 1997

"Dahshur", an ancient capital of Egypt in the Old Kingdom and formerly a military area is now considered the "Archaeological Golden Treasures Area" of which 75% has not yet been discovered.

A satellite archaeological survey is expected to uncover the hidden secrets of the pyramid of King Snefru, father of Cheops; Queen Hoteb-Haras, his mother and several other buried monuments.

Expeditions from the German Institute of Antiquities, the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York and the Japanese Wassida University are expected to start their excavation works shortly in the area.
