Tutankhamun's Festivities in Luxor

October 29, 1997

Egypt is currently commemorating the 75th anniversary of the discovery of King Tut's tomb with a Tut festival. The House of Howard Carter, discoverer of the tomb, has been opened as a museum for tourists. The Tut exhibit at the Egyptian Cairo Museum is being renovated with new display cases, modern lighting and air conditioning.

The tomb, which enjoys great international fame, draws about 5000 tourists daily, and will certainly lure more tourists after the renovation process is completed. The temple's courtyard could well be an open museum by itself after parts of the statue and other small statues were found buried in the surrounding area.
