New Developments in the Toshka Project
Several developments in the Toshka Project, planned to urbanize the Southern desert of Egypt, have been made. Twenty-two kms. were dug in Toshka Canal mainstream coming from the Nile and 10 million meters of rocks and sands were lifted. Almost a quarter million trees were planted on both sides of the Canal and forty-seven kms. of the Toshka-Abu Simbel road were dug. Thirty-four tourist resorts and hotels will be constructed, many of them will be located around the Southern Valley Canal with an accommodation capacity of 4,220 rooms and more than 10,000 job opportunities.
