Aswan-Abu Simbel Road Open to Tourist Buses

Expansion works for the Aswan-Abu Simbel road have started on May 1, 1997. According to Egyptian officials, the road will not be closed. The decision of not closing the road was taken so as to enable Tour Operators to fulfill their commitments to tourist groups visiting the area.

However, as less traffic pressures are still preferred, Egypt Air was able to cut down its fares from $145 to $107 until construction works are completed. Also, six daily flights are currently operating to Abu Simbel.
