Plankton Blooms

Plankton blooms occurs when the levels of plankton are unusually high, which usually occurs in mid-summer. The Red Sea is normally known for its clear waters, but can become as cloudy as the English Channel. If you happen to be diving while this is occurring, watch out for whale sharks and manta rays, which feed on the plankton.
