Maaty

Eleventh Dynasty

Maaty was the Gate Keeper of the Royal Treasury during the reign of King Nebhepetre Montuhotep II. He was evidently an adherant of Bebi, a Chancellor of the time. He lived during the early years of Nebhepetre Montuhotep's restoration, and the quality of his stela, carved in fine quartzite, testifies to the return of high artistic standards in Egypt after the uncertainties of the First Intermediate Period.
