Amenhemet

12th Dynasty

Amenhemet was a military commander of the court during the reign of Senwosret I, who ruled from 1971 to 1926 BC. Some records show this nomarch of Beni Hasan as Ameni. He supervised the affairs of the territories located below the First Cataract and led expeditions for the benefit of the royal treasury. After a campaign in Nubia, he was distinguished and was given the charge of a gold mine near Coptos.
