St. MarkRoman Emperors
St. Mark is traditionally said to have founded the Church of Alexandria, which later became the Egyptian Christian, or Coptic, Church. Whether this story is true or not is difficult to say, as the only sources are Christian tradition and the writings of Eusebius. A detailed history of Christianity in Egypt can be found here.
