Polybius

Ptolemaic Dynasty

 

Polybius was a historian who states that Agathocles and Sosibius managed the succession of King Ptolemy V Epiphanes, who was barely a boy at the time, and the murder of his mother, Arsinoe, in a staged ceremony in Alexandria in which they produced two silver urns, allegedly containing the bones of Ptolemy IV Philopator and Arsinoe III, (the latter was actually full of spices) and a forged will that appointed the two of them as guardians of the under-aged king.
