PolybiusPtolemaic Dynasty
Polybius was a historian who states that Agathocles and Sosibius managed
the succession of King Ptolemy V
Epiphanes, who was barely a boy at the time, and the
murder of his mother, Arsinoe, in a staged ceremony in
Alexandria in which they produced two silver urns,
allegedly containing the bones of Ptolemy IV
Philopator and Arsinoe III, (the latter was actually
full of spices) and a forged will that appointed the two
of them as guardians of the under-aged king.
