Tacitus

Roman Emperors

 

Tacitus was a Roman historian who refers to imperial Rome's preference for cultivating Africa and Egypt and for committing the lifeline of the Roman people to ships and all there risks in perhaps a tone of portentious traditionalism. The risks he alludes to were, however, real ones.
