Urhiya was an official of the 19th Dynasty, serving Seti I (1306-1290 B.C.). Of Canaanite or Hurrian descent, Urhiya was a military commander who became a general during the campaigns of the king. The fact that he was of alien or foreign descent demonstrates the changes that had come about in Egypt during the previous two dynasties. Urhiya and other foreign-born officials of the 19th and 20th Dynasty served Egypt faithfully.
