Egypt: The Southern Pylons

The Southern Pylons

The Southern Pylons were built, rebuilt and reused by many successors of kings in ancient Egypt. We can only see the remains of these pylons. Most of the blocks located at the southern side of the Karnak temple were discovered after one of the biggest excavation findings in the world. Archeologists found more than 18000 pieces, mostly from bronze or stones. The most significant ones are the reused blocks of stones that were used to build the temple of Akhenaten before the capital of Ancient Egypt moved to Tell El-Amarna. Also, the great Colossi were found in the same area. From the stones, we can see that the art style of Amarna was absolutely marvelous.
