Egypt Hosts World Travel Awards
August 30, 2011 - The World Travel Awards ceremony, set to take place September 16, will be held in Egypt's South Sinai city of Sharm El-Sheikh. This will be the first time Egypt holds the award ceremony which will be held at the Savoy Hotel on the Red Sea.
The awards, started in England in 1993, highlight the best in tourism, hotels and airlines from around the world. The awards are given based on voting from nearly 200,000 companies in 160 different countries. It is hoped that the decision to hold the ceremony in Egypt will help the tourism industry bounce back.
Over 1,200 people are due to show up including media and industry representatives.
