Who's Who of Egyptian people, queens and family: Medir

Medir

3rd Dynasty

Medir was the governor of certain territories in Upper Egypt during the reign of Djoser. Djoser consulted with Medir and the vizier in Memphis, Imhotep, when the Nile failed to rise and flood the land for a number of years. Djoser was advised by the two to visit Elephantine Island because the king had seen the god Khnum in a dream. The cult center of Khnum was in Elephantine. Djoser then visited Elephantine and made repairs and additions to the shrine. Soon after the Nile flooded the land.
