A poet of the later age, Palladas, a writer of epigrams, was a scholar and a teacher as well, making his living from pedagogy and by writing commissioned encomia on militaristic or political subjects for important and influential public figures. Very few of them (though Palladas numbered among the few) were Alexandrians.
