Title:
Necklace of Princess Khnumet
Description:
Gold, carnelian, lapis lazuli and turquoise collar of Khnumet, daughter of Amenemhat II and wife of Senusret II. Jacques de Morgan discovered Khnumet's intact burial at Dahshur within the enclosure wall of her father's pyramid. The jewels were found directly on her mummy, but unfortunately their exact order could not be recovered. It was restrung in an arbitrary way. Although three of Khnumet's sisters were buried near her, none of them were buried with the same quantity or variety of jewelry. She must have been her father's favorite.
